Attorney Mirer Wins Federal Case

Attorney Michael Mirer secured a not guilty verdict in federal court on behalf of his client, who was charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and conspiracy to import cocaine.

The client worked for American Airlines and was accused of placing two kilos of cocaine on the plane from St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands) to Miami. When she was being interviewed by law enforcement, she admitted to her role in placing the cocaine on the plane on video.

Fortunately, Attorney Mirer provided the client with an effective defense strategy, showing she wasn’t the main perpetrator of the crime. The jury acquitted her on conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute count but hung on a second count of conspiracy to import cocaine for the same two kilos on the plane.

According to federal law, conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine is punishable by a maximum 40-year prison sentence (with a minimum term of five years) and a fine not exceeding $5 million. Conspiracy to import cocaine results in similar penalties.

On behalf of the Law Office of Michael Mirer, P.A., we would like to congratulate Attorney Mirer on this recent victory in federal court. With more than 17 years of trial experience, including time spent as a Miami-Dade prosecutor, he has a thorough understanding of both Florida and federal law to help clients get the best possible results.
